When interior design studio, Qreative Design, began to envisage the new Obica restaurant in Manama, Bahrain, founder Mohamed Al Qari wanted every space to feel like an experience. 'The green botanical wallpaper [of Forest] immediately drew us in because it had a sense of mystery and depth to it. It almost feels like walking through a hidden garden, creating anticipation before arriving at the main spaces. For the powder room lobby, we selected the maroon [Chiavi Segrete foliage] wallpaper because it brought warmth, richness, and a more intimate atmosphere that worked beautifully with the marble and lighting.'
In conversation with Cole & Son, Mohamed shared that 'the wallpapers are a big part of the mood of the project. The green corridor creates a sense of intrigue and discovery, turning a simple passageway into a memorable journey. In the powder room lobby, the wallpaper adds warmth, texture, and a residential elegance that balances the marble and makes the space feel more inviting. For us, wallcoverings offer something that paint or paneling simply can’t. They add depth, character, and storytelling. In Obica, they helped create a layered and immersive atmosphere while allowing each space to have its own identity without adding unnecessary architectural elements.'
Chiavi Segrete in a rich autumnal palette was selected for its depth of print it was 'intentionally designed to feel mysterious and almost cinematic, creating a moment of transition and anticipation.'
Forest's jewel box emerald tones are seen throughout the connecting spaces as they created 'a destination in itself [...] with the wallpaper playing a key role in creating its intimate and luxurious character.'
