And the winner is… The Pearwood Collection

ELLE Decoration UK’s annual British Design Awards celebrates the very best of homegrown talent, saluting the designers and brands whose innovative creations herald an exciting new decade of British Design.

Cole & Son were part of the chosen few to be awarded, namely for Best Wallcovering for The Pearwood Collection – a cohort of new wallpaper designs celebrating the company’s rich design history and the print techniques it’s pioneered throughout its vibrant history. ELLE Decoration describes the collection as a ‘testament to the quality of the brand’s wallpaper patterns that, with just a few artful tweaks, are every bit as relevant and appealing today as when they were originally produced.’

The collection takes its name from the traditional fruit wood blocks which were originally used to print wallpaper and feature designs which remain faithful to their original form and colouring, such as Woodvale Orchard, a traditional wood block design for which the brand still has the original print blocks, whilst others have been inspired by elements across a number of different pieces found in the archive.
